Rayon, also called viscose, was the first manufactured cellulosic fiber. It is made from wood pulp. Since the luster, length and diameter of the fiber can be controlled, rayon can be made into fabrics that resemble cotton, linen, silk and wool.
Rayon fabric can also be found in microfiber form. Microfibers are generally lightweight, resilient or resist wrinkling, have a luxurious drape and body, retain shape and resist pilling.
